Christian School with Creationist Quizzes Goes Out of Business

Creationist school Blue Ridge Christian Academy  is officially closing down after citing financial troubles caused by a lack of parents willing to pay to receive the questionable education the school offers.  Apparently the groundswell of support caused by the release of Creationist quizzes didn’t give the beleaguered school the funding they’d hoped to receive from all that publicity derived from a quiz the school gives to students (courtesy of reddit).

“A lot of the messages that have come through [are], ‘We support your right from a biblical perspective in your school,’” Diana Baker, the administrator for the school, told The Huffington Post over the phone in May.

People may support their right to teach their perspective but clearly very few parents are stupid enough to pay to have it taught to their children.

Paint-Licker Award Goes to; “THE GAY LENS!!1!”

The non-stop bountiful harvest that is stupidity brought to all courtesy of the internet seems to be the exception to the rule that; “resources are limited”.

I commented on a Huffington Post article that covered Putin’s analysis of the Syria issue where Putin expressed the opinion that the chemical warfare attacks were the works of the rebels.

Image

In essence I was pointing out that you have to question the reasoning and motives of a person who is so willing to compromise fact, reason and logic in pursuit of an agenda (in this case, Putin’s anti-gay agenda).

Especially a person who is doing it for political purposes.  At that point it’s “Evidence or GTFO!” as far as I’m concerned.

A few moments later I get the following comment.

Image
I was amazed.

Well, not really.  Like I pointed out, stupidity on the internet is in endless supply.

Rather than apply any logic or reason to my comment this user went the brilliant route of talking about gay lenses.

Because in his world where the sky is a special color only he can see, bringing up the political policies (in this case, policies towards gays) of a world leader to give example of how that leader has shown in the past he’s willing to compromise logic, fact and reason to pursue a political agenda?

That just means you’re pursing A GAY AGENDA.

Deferring to others who have shown they don’t dismiss science and reason to cater to opinion means you see the world through a GAY LENS.  Demanding evidence from people who express opinions when that person’s opinions in the past have flown in the face of scientific evidence is viewing the world through DA GAY LENZ.

Congrats MiddleForkedRoad.  Troll or not, you just earned the Paint-Licker Award of the week.

Perhaps if we could harness that stupidity and convert it to medical care America’s health care issues could be resolved once and for all.

And Now For Some Political Hypocrisy, Obama-style

From the State Department;

“The commander in chief of any military is ultimately responsible for decisions made under their leadership,” said the State Department’s deputy spokeswoman, Marie Harf — even if, she added, “He’s not the one who pushes the button or says ‘go’ on this.”

From the DOJ:

So much for consistency.

Who’s Screwing Who? Voter I.D. Laws

(The following is a transcript of a video located here!)

We’re seeing a push by the GOP to put voter I.D. laws in place.

I could talk about how the claims of voter fraud by the GOP are for the most part purely fictional, 1 but no, we’re not going to do that today. Today I’m going to bring something new to the table.

I’m going to not just talk about how voter ID laws are designed to be discriminatory against minorities, the poor and the poorly educated and prevent them from voting, I’m going to provide personal testimony as to how these laws can potentially be discriminatory, will be discriminatory if they’re put in place.

I suffered from a series of unfortunate circumstances at the turn of the millennia that left me entirely broke and without any documentation to prove who I am; a mix of a job loss due to injury, exorbitant medical bills and an apartment fire (I’m betting you can guess which of those wiped out my identity paperwork).

This was right after 9/11 and NYC was responding to the anti-terrorism hysteria by jumping right in along with quite a bit of the rest of the country by passing laws, rules and regulations that created stricter requirements for acquiring identity papers.

In the past to get your birth certificate you just wrote off for it and requested it but all of the sudden you needed a state ID or a passport to get your birth certificate.  Social security which used to accept a high school transcript or diploma now required your birth certificate or passport while you needed your social security card, birth certificate and proof of address to get your driver’s license or passport, that’s not including all the other proof you were required to pony up so you can see; I was in a classic catch-22 situation.

I needed to get one of the IDs to obtain the other IDs which were required to get the first ID.

I was told I could hire a lawyer to do an affidavit to prove who I am but like the many others in my then income bracket that was outside of my budget.  That sort of service was for people with money (you know; people like wealthy GOP supporters or terrorists backed by wealthy Islamic organizations).

Curiously, while I hate this sort of big government restrictive paperwork that the GOP loves, the libertarians who support the GOP say that they’re the party with the small government ideology and not liberals and social libertarians like me.

Well needless to say;

I was stuck.

I spent the better part of a month faxing and mailing off documents, waiting in lines in state and federal buildings all for nothing.  Not one could help me out.

But then; a brainstorm hit me.

uring the course of a casual conversation I discovered that if you applied for emergency Food Stamps they gave you an ID card in your name.  This ID card was provided by the same offices that provided Medicaid recipients their ID card.  The Medicaid ID card was considered a recognized state ID card usable for the ID procuring process; the Food Stamp card wasn’t.

You didn’t need any proof of identity to get an emergency Food Stamp card but I wasn’t eligible for Food Stamps.  Yet while I was eligible for Medicaid, I lacked the necessary ID to get a Medicaid card (to get a Medicaid card you needed things like a birth certificate, driver’s license, proof of residence; see a pattern?) and thus I couldn’t enroll in the Medicaid program which would give me the required state ID needed to start the domino effect that led to me replacing all my other identity papers.

Now here’s the catch;

I realized that because the Food Stamp program and the Medicaid program used the same offices to generate their identification cards that I could take the Food Stamp card to the Medicaid office and have it converted to a Medicaid card because the government was interested in cutting costs connected to these programs and one way they did that is to simply give you one card which was used for both Food Stamps and Medicaid instead of two separate cards.

Half the cards, half the cost.

And since these two separate government programs shared data in the system via the card creation offices, I deduced that the information from the Food Stamp database might matriculate over to the Medicaid database even if I wasn’t a Medicaid member thus possibly bypassing the identity paper requirements Medicaid had listed making it possible for me to walk into the Medicaid offices and get enrolled.

Turns out I was right.

I applied for emergency Food Stamps, got my Food Stamp card, cheerfully acknowledged the; “you aren’t eligible for Food Stamps” letter but didn’t let that stop me from taking the Food Stamp card down to Medicaid to be registered.

And so six weeks later and about sixty to one hundred and sixty dollars poorer I had obtained my birth certificate, social security card, driver’s license and all that other stuff that you needed to prove you are “you” and finally I could go down to various government institutes and places of business and say; “recognize me and interact with me!” Which they wouldn’t do before but they now would.

Well, that’s not entirely fair. There is one circumstance where they will interact with you if you have no I.D., Because as everyone knows, the only thing you can officially do in America without identity papers is get arrested and go to jail.

You can’t get a driver’s license, you can’t get a credit card, you can’t get a loan, you can’t financial aid, you can’t get a library card but the American government is always willing to overlook your lack of I.D. and put you in prison.
At no time will you ever be arrested and the judge will say;

“You don’t have I.D.?  Oh well shoot in that case we can’t prosecute you because we don’t know who you are, we’ll just have to let you go.”

It only took me a total of three months from start to finish, 4-6 hours hanging on the phone and about thirteen days spent waiting in bureaucratic lines to get all my ID back.  Some of you may be amazed at how little time it took me to accomplish all this but I’m told I’m unusually fast when it comes to cutting through red tape.

Now if anyone thinks that requiring that citizens need to provide evidence to vote, of which possession of said evidence is dependent on discovering weaknesses in established security protocols in order to obtain identity papers, so that you can take part in the fundamental right which consists of voting  on who decides your fate as an American citizen is not an unreasonable burden?

Then you’ve got an unrealistic understanding of what; “an unreasonable burden is.”

Or you just don’t give a shit.

Or you do, and making it as difficult as possible for people to vote who lack the money, the education and the understanding of how the system works is the entire purpose of why you want those laws in the first place.  Because I’m guessing most people won’t be as clever and creative as I was when it comes to playing the system that’s trying to play you.

In fact I was so concerned about the ability of the average person being able to fight their way through the red tape that makes up our hyper-vigilante system to establish (or reestablish as the case may be) who they are on paper that I took part in an experimental program that was dedicated to helping people acquire their identity papers once again so they can do things like, oh, vote against the party that was continually fucking them over.

I’m sure even though they never heard of it the Republican Party is grateful that program didn’t work out, considering they’re always willing to go out of their way to take down any program that helps poor people and minorities to vote.

So there you have it.

A compelling story about why voter ID laws are not about preventing voter fraud but only about preventing poor, minority fucks like I was from voting.

This is thetruepooka coming to you from the United States of America and whether or not you’ve got your papers in order always remember to pet the cat.

not so FringeElements

I thought it would be useful to post this response as a blog post as an object lesson for all.

fringefail

My response;

You have in the past equivocated “Jew” as a “race” (as you tacitly acknowledge here).

Putting aside the question of taxonomical significance my problem has always been that you and yours attempt to conflate fuzzy sets into distinct sets.  You then toss down a proverbial genetic gauntlet using rhetoric and then wait for your audience to pick it up and make assumptions about others en masse based on unreliable visual observation.

I would also suggest in the future that perhaps you should get the appropriate training in genetics lest you continue to be incorrect when you speak extemporaneously (which you also acknowledge you do), which appears to be the standard style of your videos (speaking extemporaneously).

That way you can actually speak extemporaneously and not make easily falsifiable assertions, because education and training is what gives people the ability to speak in such a manner and not make continual errors as you do.

But let’s be clear here;

You are not a scientist.  You are not a geneticist.  You are a reasonably bright young adult that by your own admission at most has a high school diploma/ GED who also has had minimal exposure to other cultures.

Browsing the internet for articles and publications that you feel back up your claims does not make you anything but an activist for the existence of race.

And the only reason a non-scientist would continue to obsessively post material as you have done on the subject is because you seek to bring about social change that will fulfill your political goals.

That is why you raise strawmen by accusing your opponents (including myself) of being egalitarians, statists, and other similar labels.

It is because you toss science casually down and then set up your bully pulpit on the ground it covers and speak to your audience using every trick in the activist’s book you can dig up.

So your “case” for hereditarianism is merely the musings of an internet-educated small town activist who has never moved beyond the genre of posting videos.

And you can cease to be amazed as this is not a debate.  This is me teaching you; period.  Whether the lesson takes hold is up to you.

But I’ll tell you what.  Submit your video/s to a peer reviewed journal, submit them to even a single published, respected scientist and get a response from them where they are clearly treating your work as one colleague would treat another?

And then the balance of power in what little relationship we have will be ready to change.

It’s Called Hard Work Boyo, Something You Aren’t Familiar With

I receive some really bad video responses.  Generally I can tell within 15 seconds if I’m about to have my time absolutely wasted.

I was just linked to yet another one of these bad videos by a race-activist who seemed to feel that by elaborately repeating in video the same things he said to me in blog comments while putting my picture up and the word; “FALSE” in big letters on the screen? That this will somehow validate his unsubstantiated, unproven position.

While I’m not interested in supporting the work of those who fight for bigotry by misrepresenting science (hence the lack of linkage) I can’t help but point out a laughably ironic comment in the comment section of the video of a person who tries to prove that there is a “distinct” Jewish race while insisting he’s not a bigot.

bigot

The commentor and those who agree with him are referring to a video I did here.

An additional irony is I just finished a blog post where I addressed another person who had called my producer; “my nigger servant”.

So we’re dealing with people who due to their own failures in life hate minority groups so much that no matter how successful a black person is he must be a “servant”.

No matter how hard someone works to succeed?  If these bigots don’t agree with you then it’s because you’re a Jew and are part of some “Jew conspiracy.”

This is an example of the sort of slactivist thinking I deal with on a daily basis.  Anyone who they hate couldn’t have succeeded because of their own hard work and effort.

They must have succeeded because they’re a Jew and Jews all look out for one another!!1!

It doesn’t matter that I’m not Jewish.  Like the Nazis of old they level the accusation of; “JUDEN!” against anyone they disagree with.

The even bigger irony is here’s a group of people who insist that you can genetically determine “distinct” races while en masse they’re also insisting that I must have Jewish genes because they “feel I do”(see comments section for another fine example of this).

I lack not only the religious affiliation but also the gene linkage to any of the races in question  (so much for their vaunted powers of Genetic-Jew Spotting perception).

You’ll note that “distinct” is a favorite race-activist word to use  for similar reasons that they use the word “massive” when referring to immigration.

When you push them on it they’re never able to quantify the words “massive” or “distinct”.  Instead they dance about, refer to articles and journals and hope that you won’t miss that among all the smoke and mirrors they never actually quantified the word in a way that any reputable population expert or geneticist would use.

As of yet no race-activist has been able to provide a substantive response that justifies use of either word.

But what do you expect from a race-activist with such a limited understanding of statistics that he once did a video on Crime, Genetics and African Americans where he confused standard deviation with overall percentage?

My advice to these people is that they try that old fashioned thing called; “blood, sweat and hard work” and then maybe they’ll learn the value of the pride of accomplishment due to a job well done as opposed to getting a handout in the form of privilege-policy from the government which is what these types always end up hoping for.
